Super-ideation - 第三章 S部速思考力

Impressed by the beautiful images several learning partners have used to express their mental state regarding our course, I sought, using Google, for images to represent my current state: one of super-ideation: an “unorchestrated cascade of ideas” (Mellalieu, 2009)

Checking my sources, I find that the Chinese book appears to be a fraudulent use of creativity and communication! But I must admit, quite clever!

I am surprised to find no (easily found) definitions of super-ideation on the web. I think the definition is in Paul Thorne’s ‘Organising Genius’ ( I now find my copy of Thorne’s book is a rare collectible - and mine is signed personally by the author!). But I have found a man with BIG ideas who can facilitate super-ideation. (… and I thought that I had discovered that entering a super-ideating state was just a matter of drinking green tea on an empty stomach on a morning of Monday-itis)

Here is some jazz music by Alan Barnes described as having “full bodied tone, exceptional facility, and super ideation.” Synchronicity: I distinctly recall being introduced by my mother to Acker Bilk’s “Strangers in the Night” around the time that Barnes was borne in my birth town, Chester, in the late 1950s. And Bilk was a sapper like me (Field engineer, military entrepreneur).

• How do you “return to Earth” once you are in a super-ideating state? [Plain-language writing, such as this blog-work, seems to restore me… through the temptation to follow web-links suggested by Zemanta does keep the super-ideation rushing like a white-water raft]
• How do you turn the products of your super-ideation into something useful? [I produced this blog entrey introducing you to the concept of super-ideation.
• Do you feel guilty about super-ideating? [I should have been writing a scholarly article: “Biosystems modelling in agribusiness - a retrospective” for the journal “Computers in Agriculture”
